Black Dating Websites – Matchmaker Review

Hey guys, Will here again.  I promised before that I would post a full featured review of the dating site Matchmaker.com where I ended up meeting my fiance, Shona.  Well, here it is.  Before we get started I’d just like to point out that this is just an independent review blog, so if you’re looking for the official site for Matchmaker, you can click here.

OK, so for those of you who don’t know, Matchmaker.com is one of the top dating websites made exclusively for black people.  Of all of the black dating websites online, I found that they have the most profiles, which means you’re more likely to find a good match.  Their site is also clean, well laid out, and really easy to use.  Pictures are big and clear, and if someone catches your eye, messaging them is a quick and easy process.

Most importantly, Matchmaker.com follows the top 3 rules of good dating sites:

  1. Offer a free trial.
  2. Provide a good messaging system.
  3. Use big, clear pictures for user profiles.

Most dating sites I’ve used in the past break at least one of those rules, so it was definitely a relief to see that Matchmaker followed all 3.

Finally, I have my personal experience with Matchmaker.  Like I said earlier, that’s where I met my fiance.  I wish I could say that there was some kind of crazy, romantic lead-up to us getting engaged, but really it was pretty standard stuff as far as dating goes.  We sent a few messages back and forth, exchanged phone numbers, and decided we liked each other enough to meet up in person.  We went out for coffee on our first date and things went well, so we set up a second date for dinner and a movie.  A year later and we were living together, and 3 months ago I popped the question and she said yes!

I feel comfortable recommending Matchmaker.com to you for two reasons.  First, because it’s the best quality black dating website I could find when I was looking, and second, because it worked so well for me.  If I can find my fiance there, I’m sure that you’ll be able to find someone too.

Black Dating Websites – Which One To Pick?

If you’re black and getting back into the singles game, it can be tough to figure out which dating network is going to have the best returns for you.  Really, it comes down to what you’re most attracted to.  For me, I’m more into dating black girls.  I’ve dated white girls, latina girls, and an asian girl before, and for some reason, I just can’t seem to stay interested.  Because of that, my main priority was finding a site where black people were the standard, instead of just finding one or two per page.

I tried out a couple of the “big” networks, Fling and AdultFriendFinder.  I also spent some time on Plenty of Fish.  For some reason, it was really hard to find black girls on those sites that were interested in dating black guys.  Most of the girls I messaged told me they were looking to date outside the race, which is cool I guess, whatever works for you.  On top of that, I was getting messages from some straight-up shameless white girls who wanted to hook up with me just because I’m black.  Again, cool if that’s your thing, but I’m looking for a fine black girl, so those sites were just a waste of time for me.

I checked out 3 different black dating websites, and 2 of them were pretty dead.  If I had wanted to meet up with any of the girls on there, I would have been in for a long drive.  The one that ended up working for me was BlackPeopleMeet.com.  I’ll post more about my experience with them later, but if you don’t want to wait, you can click here to go to their site and sign up for a free profile.
